Gaming PC for streaming: recommended configuration 2026
Gaming and streaming simultaneously requires a specific configuration. Video encoding (OBS Studio, Streamlabs) mobilizes CPU or GPU on top of the game. Here's how to choose the right config for Twitch or YouTube streaming in 2026.
CPU vs GPU encoding (NVENC): what's the difference?
OBS Studio offers two encoding modes: x264 (CPU) and NVENC/AMF (GPU). For streaming without impacting game FPS, GPU encoding (NVENC on RTX, AMF on AMD) is recommended.
RTX 4000 cards feature the 9th generation NVENC — the best hardware encoding quality available in 2026.
Minimum config for gaming + streaming at 1080p 60 FPS
CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 minimum.
GPU: RTX 3060 or RTX 4060 minimum for quality NVENC encoding. RAM: 16 GB DDR4 minimum, 32 GB recommended.
Budget for a gaming streaming PC
Entry-level streaming budget (1080p 60 FPS, NVENC): $875 – $1100.
Professional streaming comfort: $1425 – $1750 (RTX 4070 + i7/Ryzen 7 + 32 GB DDR5).
