PC4Games Study — Gaming GPU Prices and Performance: May 2026

PC4Games publishes its first comparative study on gaming GPU prices and performance available on Amazon in May 2026. Data collected May 1–11, 2026. Methodology: Amazon prices tracked daily (10-day average), performance estimates based on TechPowerUp and Tom's Hardware benchmarks at 1080p / 1440p in Cyberpunk 2077, CS2, and The Witcher 3.

Executive Summary (TL;DR)

RTX 4060 (~€290): best performance/price ratio for 1080p gaming in May 2026. RX 7800 XT (~€380): best ratio for 1440p. RTX 4090 (~€1,700) remains the absolute 4K reference but is out of reach for most budgets. The RTX 3060 (~€200 used) maintains an excellent ratio for tight budgets.

Methodology

Prices were tracked on Amazon.fr May 1–11, 2026 (excluding flash promotions < 24h). FPS performance estimates are based on benchmarks from TechPowerUp GPU Database and Tom's Hardware tests. The performance index is calculated with base 100 = RTX 3060 at 1080p in Cyberpunk 2077 High without ray tracing.

Prices include French VAT (20%). Amazon listings sold by Amazon only (no third-party sellers). This study will be updated monthly.

Budget €150–250 (1080p): RTX 3060 (~€210, perf index 100), RX 6700 XT (~€230, index 108), RTX 4060 (~€290, index 115). Best performance/€ at this tier: RTX 3060 (5.0 perf units per €). Budget €300–450 (1440p): RX 7800 XT (~€380, index 145), RTX 4070 (~€470, index 155), RTX 4060 Ti (~€360, index 132). The RX 7800 XT dominates perf/€ at 1440p.
