ARK 2 on PC: what hardware should US players plan for in 2026?

ARK: Survival Ascended lists a Steam minimum of 16 GB RAM and 70 GB SSD — in practice, medium bases, mods and UE5 streaming push toward 32 GB and 100–150 GB free. ARK 2 will likely start at least at that level.

An HDD is still a trap on Studio Wildcard open worlds: pop-in, long loads, micro-stutter when dinos and structures stream. Prioritize NVMe for the game plus a second drive for clips if you stream.

If you upgrade before 2028: RAM first (16→32 GB), SSD second, GPU last if your card already handles ASA at 1080p medium — unless you target 1440p or huge tribe bases.

Facebook Marketplace / eBay : an RTX 3060 12 GB + 32 GB + SSD tower around $700–$925 can validate ASA — run GPU-Z, check 80+ Bronze PSU, stress thermals before paying.

Mistake 1 — copying a non-official « ARK 2 specs » chart from a forum. While Steam shows TBA, only a publisher update counts.

Mistake 2 — stopping at 16 GB RAM because that is ASA's paper minimum. In 2026 with Windows 11, Discord and a browser, 32 GB is real UE5 comfort.

Mistake 3 — 8 GB VRAM GPUs for high textures (RTX 3070, RTX 4060 8 GB): ARK worlds saturate VRAM fast — target 10–12 GB+.
