GTA 6 PC Requirements — What hardware do you need in 2026?

As of this update, Rockstar has not published official PC requirements or a precise PC release window for GTA 6. The estimates below remain editorial projections based on the RAGE engine, the PS5 / Xbox Series builds, and the GPU market in the first half of 2026.

If you are planning ahead, two priorities remain: aim for at least 12 GB VRAM for comfortable Ultra textures in an open world, and pair that with 32 GB RAM plus a fast NVMe SSD to reduce asset-streaming stutter.

GTA 6 launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X in late 2025. No official PC release date has been announced yet, but Rockstar historically ships PC versions 12–18 months after console — placing the likely PC launch between mid-2026 and early 2027.

The game runs on an enhanced version of the RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine). The console version targets 60 FPS at 4K using reconstruction techniques. On PC, Rockstar will leverage DLSS 4 (NVIDIA), FSR 4 (AMD) and XeSS (Intel) for modern GPUs, allowing performance headroom well beyond native rendering.

For native or reconstructed 4K (DLSS/FSR Ultra Quality), expect to need an RTX 4080 Super, RTX 5070, or RX 7900 XTX. GTA 6 at 4K will likely demand the same GPU tier as Cyberpunk 2077 in path tracing mode — that is, a mid-to-high-end 2025–2026 card.

Good news: DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation (NVIDIA) and FSR 4 (AMD) allow GPUs like the RTX 4070 and RX 7800 XT to reach 120+ FPS from 60 FPS native output — provided you have a compatible 120 Hz+ display.

The best value GPU for GTA 6 in 2026 is likely the RTX 4070 Super (12 GB, ~$450) or the RX 7800 XT (16 GB, ~$380). The RX 7800 XT's extra VRAM is a real asset for open-world games, but the RTX 4070 Super offers exclusive DLSS 4 and Frame Generation.

On a tighter budget, the RTX 3060 (12 GB, ~$250 used) remains viable for 1080p/medium. Avoid 8 GB VRAM GPUs for GTA 6 — even the RTX 3070 8 GB or RX 6700 XT 8 GB may run out of memory on Ultra textures.

For maximum performance, the RTX 5070 Ti and RX 9070 XT released in 2026 will be the cards of choice for native 4K/60+ FPS.

GTA V was poorly optimized for multi-core CPUs, favoring raw clock speed. GTA 6 should leverage modern CPUs far better, with improved NPC AI threads, physics, and streaming workloads.

Storage: a NVMe Gen 4 SSD of at least 1 TB is strongly recommended. GTA 6 will likely occupy 150–200 GB and load times on HDD or SATA SSD will be noticeably longer.

If you are currently playing other games (Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring Nightreign, Monster Hunter Wilds), there is no reason to wait. A PC with an RTX 4070 / RX 7800 XT bought today will be fully capable of running GTA 6 at launch.
