Crimson Desert on PC — official specs are live, but 150 GB on SSD is the real gate
You landed here after Crimson Desert went live March 19, 2026 on Steam — app 3321460, a GameInformer / IGN piece on Pywel, or the thread « does my GTX 1060 actually hit minimum? ». This is not Black Desert Online — Pearl Abyss shipped a solo open-world action-adventure (Kliff, the Greymanes, continent Pywel) on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Mac with full English on Steam. Short answer (July 2026, before sales tax): Steam minimum = Ryzen 5 2600X / i5-8500, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT, 150 GB on SSD, DX12. Recommended = Ryzen 5 5600 / i5-11600K, RTX 2080 / RX 6700 XT — targets 1080p/60 or 4K/30 per Pearl Abyss. For comfortable 1440p/60 in the US: aim for RTX 4070 / RX 7700 XT + DLSS/FSR. Build budget $800–$1,075 · 1440p $1,275–$1,600 · 4K/60 $1,725–$2,150. Steam Deck: Not Supported — free 150 GB on SSD before you price-shop a GPU.

Out since March 19, 2026 — official specs replace pre-launch guesswork
Many Crimson Desert URLs still run a « upcoming game » template with RTX 4060 / 1440p filler — outdated: the title is playable now on Steam (Pearl Abyss). Steam lists minimum and recommended; Pearl Abyss adds Low / High / Ultra performance rows (official notice).
Stores: Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store (Xbox on PC). Standard ~$69.99 on Steam; third-party keys often sit around $45–55 in June 2026 — confirm region before buying off-Steam. Deluxe ~$79.99 with cosmetics.
PC notes: internet required for initial setup, then offline play supported; DLSS 4 / 4.5 and FSR 3 / 4 confirmed (GamingBolt). No cross-save across platforms.
Steam requirements + Pearl Abyss tiers — table and US reading
Pearl Abyss mandates 16 GB RAM on every tier — no 12 GB floor like some recent RPGs. SSD required (no HDD row). DirectX 12 mandatory — update NVIDIA/AMD drivers before first launch.
In the US, plenty of 2018–2020 towers with GTX 1060 6 GB clear the official minimum — the blocker is often SSD space, not rushing into an RTX 4070.
| Tier | CPU | GPU | RAM / storage | Pearl Abyss target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam minimum | R5 2600X / i5-8500 | GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT | 16 GB · 150 GB SSD | 1080p upscaled from 900p ~30 FPS |
| Steam recommended | R5 5600 / i5-11600K | RTX 2080 / RX 6700 XT | 16 GB · 150 GB SSD | 1080p/60 or 4K/30 |
| High (publisher) | R5 7600X / i5-12600K | RTX 4070 / RX 7700 XT | 16 GB · 150 GB SSD | 1440p/60 |
| Ultra (publisher) | R7 7700X / i5-13600K | RTX 5070 Ti / RX 9070 | 16 GB · 150 GB SSD | 4K/60 |
150 GB on SSD — clear disk space before Micro Center
150 GB free on SSD is one of the loudest requirements — on par with Fable (135 GB) and heavy UE5 installs (Eurogamer). On a 500 GB NVMe packed with Black Desert, Cyberpunk, and Baldur's Gate 3, you will uninstall or add a game SSD.
An HDD fails Pearl Abyss specs — crossing Pywel, ruins, and mercenary zones gets painful after launch patches.
US tip: check free space before buying on Newegg or Amazon.com — Steam install + day-one patch often exceed 150 GB. Plan 170 GB+ free through summer 2026.
Open-world Pywel: CPU load, 16 GB RAM, and loading spikes
Pearl Abyss built a dense open world (plains, cities, the Abyss) with action combat and mercenary progression — same studio DNA as Black Desert, but single-player and offline-capable after setup. Expect CPU spikes in towns and GPU load outdoors, not a 240 Hz competitive shooter.
16 GB RAM is the official standard everywhere — in practice: 16 GB dual-channel covers most sessions; 32 GB only if you stream (OBS) or keep Chrome + Discord heavy in the background.
The GTX 1060 minimum targets ~30 FPS upscaled — fine for story-first play, weak if you want stable 60 FPS at native 1080p without lowering scale.
GPU by resolution — DLSS 4 / FSR 4 and VRAM in the US
1080p/60 (Steam recommended): RTX 2080 / RX 6700 XT — 2026 equivalents: RTX 3060 Ti / RTX 4060 / RX 6700 XT with DLSS Quality or FSR.
1440p/60 (Pearl Abyss High): RTX 4070 / RX 7700 XT — the Micro Center sweet spot for 2026 open worlds.
4K/60 (Ultra): RTX 5070 Ti / RX 9070 — lean on upscaling; native 4K ultra without DLSS/FSR needs more.
VRAM: GTX 1060 6 GB is a hard floor — high textures risky; 8 GB+ safer for Pywel combat effects.
Current rig, GPU swap, or new tower — three US buyer paths
Path 1 — GTX 1060 + 16 GB + SSD: you meet Steam minimum — launch, test ~30 FPS upscaled, upgrade only if you need locked 60 FPS.
Path 2 — GPU-only upgrade: if CPU ≥ i5-8500 / R5 2600X and 16 GB are fine, a used RX 6700 XT / RTX 3060 Ti (Facebook Marketplace) can hit recommended without replacing the whole tower.
Path 3 — New build: below GTX 1060 or 8 GB RAM, skip another used 1060 — target R5 5600 + RTX 4060 / RX 7600 ($800–$1,075) via PC4Games comparator and budget pages · $1,300 tier.
US budget tiers (July 2026, before sales tax)
Neighbor guides: upcoming games 2026 · Fable PC requirements (another heavy SSD AAA).
| Tier | Budget | Target hardware | Expected experience |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official minimum | $100–$800 | GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT + 16 GB + 150 GB+ SSD | 900p→1080p ~30 FPS (Pearl Abyss) |
| 1080p/60 | $800–$1,075 | R5 5600 + RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6700 XT + 1 TB NVMe | Steam recommended, DLSS/FSR |
| 1440p/60 | $1,275–$1,600 | R5 7600 + RTX 4070 / RX 7700 XT + 16 GB | Pearl Abyss High tier |
| 4K/60 | $1,725–$2,150 | R7 7700 + RTX 5070 Ti / RX 9070 + 32 GB | Ultra tier, patch headroom |
Post-launch mistakes and a July 2026 checklist
Mistake 1 — treating minimum as ultra 1080p 60. GTX 1060 = ~30 FPS upscaled per Pearl Abyss, not max settings.
Mistake 2 — full NVMe or HDD boot drive. 150 GB SSD blocks install before any GPU benchmark.
Mistake 3 — 8 GB RAM « patch will fix it ». 16 GB is mandatory on every official tier.
Mistake 4 — skipping day-one online setup. First launch needs internet; plan a stable Steam/Epic update window.
Mistake 5 — RTX 5080 with an old quad-core. Pywel cities want a modern 6-core CPU.
Checklist: 170 GB+ free on SSD · 16 GB RAM (32 GB if streaming) · GPU ≥ GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT · CPU ≥ i5-8500 / R5 2600X · DX12 · updated drivers · enable DLSS/FSR · test on your rig before ~$69.99 Steam · compare Newegg/Marketplace if upgrading.
