Can you run AION 2 if Steam’s recommended PC is still on Low?

Can you run AION 2 if Steam’s recommended PC is still on Low?

AION 2 went free on PC on October 5, 2026 (NC, Steam 3393110). It is a UE5 MMORPG where the sky is the battlefield, in a world NC calls 36 times larger than the first Aion. The Steam sheet does not promise Ultra. The footnote does the opposite. Minimum (Ryzen 5 2600 / i5-10500, 8 GB, GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB / RX 470 4 GB) is told to use Very Low at FHD. Recommended (Ryzen 7 3700X / i7-11700, 16 GB, RTX 2070 8 GB / RX 5700 XT 8 GB) is told to use Low, still at 1080p. 100 GB, SSD recommended (not “required”), DirectX 12, broadband. US towers that honestly match that note usually land between $700 and $1,525.

Can I run AION 2 on the GPU I already own?

If you have a healthy GTX 1050 Ti / RX 470 (4 GB), 8 GB RAM, Windows 10/11 and about 100 GB free, Steam says you can start, on Very Low at 1080p. A RTX 2070 / RX 5700 XT with 16 GB is the official recommended row, and NC still pairs it with the Low preset.

Below a 1050 Ti 4 GB, you are under the sheet. A 1650 4 GB is not listed. Do not treat “close enough” as a Steam line.

Read the footnote before the GPU name

Both tiers share Windows 10/11, DirectX 12, broadband and 100 GB. RAM jumps from 8 GB to 16 GB. VRAM jumps from 4 GB to 8 GB. The preset jumps from Very Low to Low, not to High.

That is the buy. A recommended 2070 is a compatibility target for Low 1080p, not a siege-ready Ultra box. Sky fights with a full faction are heavier than the footnote admits, and NC does not publish a High tier.

AION 2 (Steam, Oct 6, 2026): what NC actually pairs with each row

8 GB opens the client. It does not host a raid night

8 GB matches the minimum line. Discord, a build browser and the PURPLE launcher next to Steam will page that out before the sky fills. The official jump to 16 GB is the first upgrade if the GPU is already a 1050 Ti or RX 470.

32 GB is not on the sheet. Keep it for streaming and a messy desktop, not because NC demanded it.

100 GB and a recommended SSD, not a required one

NC writes SSD recommended, not SSD Required. A hard drive can satisfy the letter. It will stream a “36 times larger” world poorly, especially on launch-week patches. Leave 120–140 GB free for shaders and hotfixes.

Steam and PURPLE are two doors, one PC

PC only. Steam and NC’s PURPLE launcher reach the same servers. You do not need a second tower. PURPLE is an extra process: on 8 GB, close the browser before you queue.

What a US tower costs if you do not already own a 2070

About $700–$1,025: the honest recommended row. 16 GB, SSD, a Ryzen 5 5600 / i5-12400F, and a 3060 / 4060 or a healthy used 2070 / 5700 XT. A new “8 GB + 1050 Ti” sticker in 2026 is paying for Very Low.

$1,025–$1,525 buys headroom above Low (sky fights, overlays): 4060 Ti / 4070 or 6700 XT / 7800 XT. NC did not write that row. Filter it in the comparator. A 4090 for AION 2 alone is wasted while the official sheet stops at a 2070 on Low.

Frequently asked questions

Does the recommended PC run AION 2 on High?

Not according to Steam’s note. At 1080p, NC pairs the recommended row (RTX 2070 8 GB / RX 5700 XT 8 GB, 16 GB) with the Low preset. Minimum (GTX 1050 Ti / RX 470, 8 GB) is Very Low.

What are the AION 2 system requirements?

Minimum: Windows 10/11, Ryzen 5 2600 / i5-10500, 8 GB, GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB / RX 470 4 GB, 100 GB, DirectX 12. Recommended: Ryzen 7 3700X / i7-11700, 16 GB, RTX 2070 8 GB / RX 5700 XT 8 GB, 100 GB. SSD is recommended, not marked required. App 3393110, free since October 5, 2026.

Is 8 GB of RAM enough?

It matches the minimum line. Discord, a browser and the PURPLE launcher at once are happier on 16 GB. 32 GB is not on the sheet.

Is an SSD required?

NC writes recommended, not required. Plan 100 GB, closer to 120–140 GB free after launch patches.

Do Steam and PURPLE need two PCs?

No. Two clients, same servers. The game is PC only.

What should a US tower cost?

About $650–$950 for the real recommended row (16 GB, SSD, 3060 / 4060 or a healthy 2070). $950–$1,400 if you want headroom above Low. That second band is not an NC spec.

How we wrote this guide

Cross-checked with the Steam AION 2 page (app 3393110, launched October 5, 2026) and US street prices. Editorial update: October 6, 2026.

  • Steam notes: Very Low on minimum, Low on recommended, at FHD.
  • SSD recommended, 100 GB, RAM 8 GB then 16 GB.
  • Anything above Low is a buying read, not an official row.
