8 GB RAM: still enough in 2026?

In 2026, 8 GB RAM has become insufficient for most recent AAA games. Windows 11 itself consumes 2–3 GB at idle, leaving 5–6 GB for the game.

Exception: if you play exclusively light games (CS2, LoL, Minecraft), 8 GB can still work.

16 GB RAM: the gaming standard in 2026

16 GB (2×8 GB dual-channel) is the reference gaming configuration. Sufficient for 95% of recent AAA titles at 1080p or 1440p.

32 GB RAM: for whom, for what?
