Upcoming games in 2026: which PC build should you prepare?
Want to prepare before major launches? This guide groups highly anticipated pre-release games and gives realistic PC baseline targets by category, so you can buy smart before launch day.
1) High-demand AAA upcoming games: recommended baseline
For Crimson Desert, Fable, Pragmata, ARK 2, Subnautica 2, and Forza Horizon 6, target a strong 1440p baseline: Ryzen 5 7600 / i5-13600K, 32 GB RAM, RTX 4070 Super or RX 7800 XT, 1 TB NVMe SSD.
If your goal is high 1080p, RTX 4060 Ti or RX 7700 XT can be enough for many titles, but with less launch-day optimization headroom.
2) Competitive and live-service titles
For ARC Raiders, Deadlock, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, PUBG, League of Legends, and Warframe, stable FPS (CPU + RAM + SSD) matters more than ultra presets.
Recommended 144/165 Hz setup: Ryzen 5 7600 / i5-13400F, 16 to 32 GB RAM, RTX 4060 / RX 7600 XT minimum. Move to RTX 4070 / RX 7800 XT for stronger 1440p high-FPS consistency.
3) Sandbox/survival and CPU-heavy games
Minecraft (modpacks/shaders), World of Warcraft (raids), Crusader Kings III (late game), and Dead by Daylight benefit heavily from modern CPU performance and fast SSD loading.
A recent CPU + 16 GB RAM often gives better value than overspending on GPU if those are your main games.
4) What about games without official specs yet?
For Windrose, Fishing Inc, Bid King, Vampire Crawlers, Tomodachi Life, and other announcements without full PC specs, the safest approach is a modern mid-range build with headroom.
Once official Steam/publisher requirements appear, rebalance the build: GPU first for visual AAA games, CPU first for strategy/sim/MMO workloads.
